A 20-minute cleaning routine for busy days
A simple room-by-room reset that keeps daily maintenance separate from deep cleaning.

Step by step
- Gather a microfiber cloth, a small trash bag, and a cleaner suitable for each surface.
- In the kitchen, put items away and wipe the counter and sink. Leave the floor until last.
- In the bathroom, clean the sink and faucet according to the product label, then dry them.
- In the living area, return loose items and wipe frequently used surfaces.
- Finish by sweeping or vacuuming the main walking paths.
Allow about five minutes for each stage. If a job needs longer, save it for a separate session. Never mix cleaning chemicals; read the label and ventilate the room.
What fits in 20 minutes
This is a maintenance routine, not a deep clean or a way to remove old stains. Choose a few frequently used surfaces. If the house needs more work, narrow the goal to a usable kitchen and a comfortable bathroom.
Gather the supplies
Set aside separate cloths for the kitchen and bathroom, a trash bag and cleaners suited to each surface. Read the product label before use and store products away from children and pets. Never mix cleaners, especially bleach with other products.
Adapt the plan
In a small home, focus on the counter, sink, toilet and main walking area. In a larger home, choose just one additional room. A timer can help you see where the minutes went without making cleaning a race.
After the routine
Allow used cloths to dry before storing them and note what needs more attention another day. A useful outcome is less daily clutter and a clear next task, even when everything is not finished.
